From costumes to celebrities – check out our top 10 Reasons to go to D23 Expo!
Most Disney super fans have a Disney bucket list written that includes everything from seeing Space Mountain with the lights on to stepping inside the infamous Club 33! 8 years ago fans added one more thing at the top of their lists…attend the D23 Expo! D23 is the official fan club of the Walt Disney Company and in 2009 they started the D23 expo that has taken place every other year since then. Fun fact: the “D” stands for Disney and the “23” refers to 1923 when Walt Disney founded the company.
This event is now a MUST for any Disney fanatic and has 3 packed days of events including announcements, celebrities, awards, shopping and surprises! It is a fun filled weekend and we have compiled a list of reasons why you absolutely NEED to go to the next D23 expo!
1. Announcements. The most popular reason is the announcements. New movies, new rides, new restaurants, new ships, changes in the company……..ANYTHING can and will be announced at the Expo! It is usually information that we haven’t heard before or things we haven’t seen yet. They unveil new and exciting developments that will leave any super fan jumping up and down in their seat with anticipation. It is truly something you won’t want to miss.
2. Celebrities. Have you ever wanted to shake hands with the Disney elite? How about get a picture with your favorite actors or characters? There is no shortage of celebrity love for Disney and the Expo is crawling with them waiting for you to meet and completely lose your mind over. It is one of the best parts of the convention simply because it’s not everyday they are all under one roof.
3. Awards. The awards and speeches are not to be missed! Every expo Disney honors new legends in Disney history…..and every honoree will give an incredible speech that will leave you laughing, crying, cheering and just plain star struck! This event is a sight to see and is easily one of the most sought after seat at the expo.
4. Costumes. The costumes are out of this world! If you’ve been to any “con event”, you know that people’s creativity can be fabulous when it comes to their costumes. Add that to Disney super fans and the ideas are endless! It never ceases to amaze me just how elaborate the ideas people have and what they can create….The more over the top you are with the costume, the better it is! There is even a costume competition and it is a highlight of the event. Disney fans do not mess around with their extreme level of dedication revolving around the costumes!
5. Exhibits. The exhibits are a HUGE hit! From full scale models of different Disney “lands” to Pixar areas devoted entirely to the animation process, there is something to be seen around every corner! You can check out the costumes from your favorite Disney movies, explore an interactive Marvel experience, or immerse yourself in the world of pirates….whatever you desire, it is there and ready for your viewing pleasure.
6. Activities. The contests, how-to events and dance parties are not to be missed! Have you ever wondered how they make that cupcake so perfect? Do you want to compete in trivia games with your fellow Disney fans? There is an event at every turn. They bring out the best Disney fan in all of us!
7. Shopping. The shopping is addicting! Once you take a look at those limited edition pins or rare paintings, you won’t want to leave without getting something of Disney history. There is a vendor and store for EVERYONE including the luxurious Disney superstore which has all of your most desired Disney items in one place….It isn’t possible to leave the convention without something in your hand.
8. Disney Fans. Mingling with fellow Disney addicts will always be a top reason. Where else can you go where thousands of people think just like you when it comes to all things Disney? Everyone’s love is the same and you are not judged or looked at differently. We are all excited for the same reasons and that is a special bond that cannot be broken while at the Expo. It is amazing how everyone just understands your level of Disney Fandom.
9. Shows. The shows are pretty spectacular! Disney puts on several musically filled shows that will leave the audience in awe. Most of them are a tribute concert to a particular movie or person in Disney history. They are a must see at the Expo because it often involves Disney legends and VIPs….not to mention the music and singing are in a class above the rest. It will truly leave you breathless.
10. It’s just an amazing time! What better reason to go to an exciting event other than you will have the time off your life?? I can’t think of anything better suited for a Disney fan than to have Disney style fun for an entire weekend!
So whatever your reason may be make sure you do not miss the next Expo when it comes to town. Disney never disappoints and it will take another notch off that long Disney bucket list!
