Up until today, we have been playing the guessing game as to what date the new Pixar Pier in Disney’s California Adventure would officially open. Now thanks to the D23 Expo in Japan we finally have a date, June 23rd, 2018!
Disney Parks Chairman Bob Chapek announced all of the exciting details today while the convention was underway. As we announced before, this new “land” will have 4 different neighborhoods that will be affiliated with different Pixar stories. Guests will enter under a new and improved sign and he also mentioned that the “Pixar Lamp” will be added to the sign later on in the year!
One of the neighborhoods will be inspired by “The Incredibles” and will feature a new attraction known as the “Incredicoaster” (formally California Screamin’). It will be a super high speed ride, complete with your favorite superhero family racing along beside you! At another part of the pier, a new attraction inspired by “Inside Out” will be featured as well.
One of the elements that we have been anticipating is the return of the AMAZING Paint The Night Parade! Thought of as one of Disney’s Best parades ever, PTN will bring with it a brand new float featuring Elastigirl, Mr. Incredible, Frozone and will showcase the incredible “powers” of Violet, Dash and baby Jack-Jack! Thankfully we will not have to wait too long to see Paint the Night in action, as that parade is schedule to start making runs on April 13th!
Along with a number of new themed food and merchandise, this new land is sounding like a winner already!
On the other side of the country, we are still awaiting the opening date of Toy Story Land in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World! It is currently set to open “this summer” and will have new attractions such as Slinky Dog Dash and the Alien Swirling Saucers!
Go on over to Tomorrowland and party with Edna Mode for the first time in history or race over to Animal Kingdom and watch your favorite “Up” characters in a new Wilderness Explorer show! Along with a new Ratatouille attraction that they are adding to the France pavilion in Epcot, there will be so many things to look forward to at the “Incredible Summer” celebration this year at Walt Disney World!
Now fly across the globe to Shanghai Disneyland, where their version of Toy Story land is set to debut on April 26th! It is scheduled to have the same elements as Walt Disney World but also will feature a dancing Bullseye attraction and racing race cars with Rex!
Wherever you are at, Pixar mania is upon us…..and we cannot wait for all of the exciting things to come!
