Fantasmic has returned to Disneyland! We had the opportunity to see a soft opening – check out our thought about the updated classic show.
The moment we have all waited for…..the return of the nighttime spectacle known as Fastasmic! began with soft openings this past weekend! We were lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time and got to witness the first soft opening performance of quite possibly the most popular show in Disneyland history. To say that we were excited is an understatement. We were elated to be one of the first people to see the new and improved re-imagined Fantasmic. We grabbed the best spaces to watch it and had an incredible view for this event.
With celebrities, VIPs, and corporate executives watching with anticipation, we all held our breath as the famous words started.
The lighting was better, everything looked bigger, and the water features were clearer. Suddenly certain things made sense and showed how Mickey actual struggles inside the minds of his nightmares! The colors were stunning! Using water features that seemed to be inspired by DCA’s World of Color, the new techniques were breathtaking and beautiful.
Everything that we loved about the original Fantasmic was there but just enhanced with better quality and sound. The music we have grown to love was still present but updated to sound a bit more modern. It had the same magical feel that left goosebumps all of your body and a lump in your throat.
A few big changes were distinct. Aladdin and Jasmine were added to float across the sky and Snow White, in the emotional dancing sequence, was replaced by Rapunzel and her famous song, ” I See the Light”. It tugged at your heart strings and added that extra tear in your eye that only that song can give you. Also, the giant Peter Pan/Hook fight sequence on the ship was replaced by a Pirate’s of the Caribbean scene where Jack Sparrow was fighting Barbosa and his cursed Pirates. Complete with loud bangs and clinks of the swords, this gave everyone the adventure and update the show needed. It was incredible to watch! And finally, Maleficent and the dragon are bigger and badder than ever before! The transitions were smoother and faster and the Dragon was larger and definitely more terrifying. The fire it breathed out was much more dramatic than it had ever been before and was a highlight of this show once again.
The awe-inspiring Mark Twain boat scene was kept in original fashion. They added colors in the background that made the smoke coming out of the boat look like a rainbow and it was spectacular! This leads into the final scene where Mickey creates an brilliant display in the sky…..complete with fireworks galore and better dynamics than ever before!
The show was incredible and everyone felt it. The crowd was pumped and they cheered at each new element! The people who worked so hard on this amazing rendition, knew that they did an awesome job. They all listened to us scream and shout all while hugging each other one by one for a job well done.
It was most definitely a job well done folks. Bravo!
